Beginners Burlesque Dance - Level 1

Course Description

Consisting of six 1-hour dance classes over six weeks, this course is an introduction to burlesque dance, the hottest trend in town, bringing together a sizzling dance style with elaborate vintage costumes, cool tunes and a lot of sassy fun!

Learn how to be a total glamour queen, how to walk and dance in heels,  how to exude confidence and sex appeal! And of course, you'll learn all the fundamentals of burlesque dance as well as meet some fabulous new friends on the way!

You will learn how to bump and grind as well as learn the art of the tease. Combined with costuming tips, performance hair & make-up techniques as well as musicality basics, you will learn a progressive group routine over the six weeks.

You will have an opportunity to perform this group routine together at the Sugar Blue Burlesque Fresh Faced Follies Graduation show (optional).

What to expect:

Week 1: Introduction class for students and teacher to get to know each other. The teacher will give you a run down of what the theme, costuming, styling and music is for the group routine that will be taught throughout the 6 week course as well as some Graduation show info. You will begin learning the group routine.

All info will also be emailed to students in the course (even if you have missed this lesson) and you will be invited to join a private Facebook student group just for your class so that you can recieve all the info and catch up videos of each week's class.

Week 2- 5: You will continue to learn the group routine and there may be some mini art of tease routines, as well as hair & make-up demo or info sessions throughout the classes.

Week 6: Dress rehearsal of the group routine in class.

What to Wear

Comfortable clothing and easy to dance in heels recommended (but not essential!)

Please note that if you do want to participate in the optional grad show performance at the end of the course, there will be additional costs/sourcing involved in purchase of costume items and presentation, which will talked about in week 1.

This course is open to all genders, over 18 years old.

No experience whatsoever is needed to take the course.

*People with disabilities are welcome to bring along a support worker if needed
*All dance teachers are happy to adjust dance moves as needed to accommodate people with disabilities.
