Wig Styling 101 (Beginners) with Styled by Esther

Introduction to Wig styling, maintenance, use of Lace front wigs and how to style a preset Marilyn Monroe style wig. (wig included in cost of class).

Course Description

This workshop is a 3 hour session block.

Bookings for this workshop will close on the 20th July.

Total cost of workshop is $360 per person. You will only have to pay for a deposit now of $150 (Bookings close 20th July) so supplies can get ordered and final payment will be due by the 27th July. The deposit is non- refundable, so if you are unable to attend, the booking can be transferred to another person of your choice.

Workshop description

Go from drab to fab in this beginner friendly wig styling workshop hosted by wig styling guru, sensational singing drag artist and the winner of Miss Gay Australia 2018... Esther Rix!

Learn to style your own wig with just the VaVaVoom you want for the stage... A must for every wig loving burlesque performer or drag artist!

Materials provided for class - wig block, rollers, T-pins, bias tape/shoe lace, steamer, bag, tail comb, scissors, sewing pins. Smoothing brush. Metal sectioning clips. Wig cap (stocking), Geisha/ripple pins.

In this workshop you will cover:

Introduction to wigs styling - Required materials , where to buy, best products to use. Difference between synthetic and natural hair. Prestyled wigs.

How to Block a lace front wig - how to attach wig to block correctly using pins and bias tape/shoe lace.

“Backcombing” not Teasing - how to backcomb a wig to add volume and height and options of styling a preset Marilyn wig.

Styling and Smoothing and Set - how to achieve the perfect Marilyn hair-do and manipulate the fibres into the desired shape and look, and setting options with hairspray.

Cut the Lace - how to cut the lace and adhere with wig cap, spirit gum or pins.

Wig Care and Storage - storage options and how to look after your wig for it to last as long as possible.

Every participant will leave with their own unique styled lace front wig that is ready to wear, with many different wig colours to choose from.
