Vintage Hair & Make-up 2 hour Workshop with Valerie “Va Va” Valentine

In this two hours of power workshop you will learn the tips and tricks of the trade from Pin-Up Covergirl and Vintage Burlesque Beauty - Valerie “Va Va” Valentine, widely known for her jaw dropping setting styles and beautiful classic makeup seen across stage and dancefloors all over Australia.

We will be covering vintage starlet hair and makeup from scratch, having you ready for your closeup in a pinch and stay cute all night dancing or under hot stage lights. This course is designed for all aspiring glamourpusses at all levels of experience; be it stage ready starlets, swoon worthy swing dancers, darling date nights or putting the checkout in the Coles checkout. 

While this crash course doesn’t require any formal skills or experience it will require a few tools so please ensure you fully read the below BEFORE BOOKING to get the most of your experience with Vava: 

We will cover a pinup makeup look, fit with fluttering false lashes as well as gorgeous vintage brushouts (with an optional cheat quick fix bun/pony), bound to make heads turn. 

Please note:  

• Due to venue restrictions, hair workshop will be a demonstration ONLY. 

• You will be learning on your own face with the intention to only replicate this work for yourself. Mastering these skills takes time and dedication. 

• The hair component of this workshop is best suited for shoulder to shoulder blade length hair, however shorter bob styles are still welcome. 

• Unfortunately this workshop is not suitable for very short or very long hair, extreme shag cuts and very layered hairstyles or highly textured hair types (afro curls or dense curls) that have not had smoothing treatment, please see next point - this is quite simply due to time restraints and difficulty of teaching multiple methods. Feel free to contact me directly for some better suited advice on these hair types and I’ll absolutely do my best to direct you. 

• You will be learning my personal method, an accumulation of trial and error, passion and many hours learning - this is not hairdressing training or makeup school. I am self taught and a lover of all things vintage and while I use these methods in a professional setting on myself all the time, I have no formal education on these matters. 

By booking this workshop you understand and agree to the above. No results can be guaranteed however I will do my best to have everyone feeling fabulous and glam, ready for their night on the town.

• Take home booklet with styling information for both hair and makeup.

• Optional purchase of take-home pincurl clip kit, large size hair net, setting spray. All supplies/kits are subject to availability. If unsure email Vava with any Q’s.

What to Wear

For the makeup workshop (recommended):

• Foundation 
• Base Primer
• Setting Spray or Powder
• Lipstick (+ Liner if you have it)
• Blush
• Nude Shades Eyeshadow Palette/Gitters
• Brow pencil/creme
• Liquid Eyeliner in Black or Brown 
• Mascara
• Lash glue (optional but recommended)
• Lashes, tapered cat eye style (optional but recommended)
• Brushes, simple kit (optional but recommended)
• Makeup Sponge (optional but recommended)
• Tweezers for lash application (optional but recommended)

Hair demonstration:

• Notepad for your records.
